The Magic are done for the season. Does this mean lights are off at the O-rena until their return? Not! Check out Arena Football and your Orlando Predators. Just four weeks into their seventh season, the Preds are first in the southern division with a 3-1 record. Their sole loss was to the Arizona Rattlers at Orlando's home opener.
This isn't your normal football game. Arena Football has been described as 14,000 people showing up for a party and a football game breaking out - the 50-yard indoor war. Arena games are hard hitting, high scoring contests - ironman style. Except for specialist positions, players cover both offense and defense. The playing field is only 50 yards long with large nets in the end zones. A measly nine feet exists between goal posts for field goal and extra point attempts. Playing the ball off the nets is perfectly legal. A wall surrounds the sidelines to protect the bench and fans from players who body check hockey-style and tackle each other into it.
The Orlando Predators have re-named the O-rena "The Jungle" and it has become one of the most feared arena ball venues. With an Arena Football League record for most consecutive sellouts and a team mascot named "Klaw" (out of the Sci-Fi movie, Predator), who can blame someone for being intimidated?

Ticket prices start at $10 (there are no bad seats). With the opening indoor fireworks, the loud rock music, and intensive game, I think Predators football has got to be the best professional sports value going. What else are you gonna do...watch The Orlando Sundogs?
The next home game is Friday, May 30, 1997 against The Nashville Kats. Check it out!
