Orlando, Florida March 10, 1997 - Staff members at the SAK Comedy Lab dropped their jaws in disbelief as volunteer usher Chris Devitt yelled into the ticket office, "SOMEONE JUST STOLE OUR WELCOME MAT!"

It was 10:36 pm, Saturday, March 8. Cliff McCloe was at the ticket window preparing for the rush of ticket buyers for the 11:30 pm show. After a nod from House Manager Cathy Wagner, he leapt over the counter and ran out into the street. Two other volunteers also dashed behind to try and catch the culprits, who were described as white males in their 20's with brown hair - both wearing green shirts and brown pants. But the thieves were gone.

When this picture was taken, no one had any idea the mat would soon be gone.

So was the new, custom-made 6' X 4' welcome mat with the new five-color SAK logo - three bubbles, each containing one letter of SAK's name. "I'm glad our fans like our logo," sighed Terry Olson, Managing Director. "But to steal a floor mat? We are offering a $100 reward for information leading to the prosecution of the thieves. We want our door mat back. It was expensive! I know we welcome thousands of people here every month. They are all welcome to come in. They are not welcome to steal our floors!"

If anyone knows the whereabouts of a 6' charcoal floor mat with three yellow, red, green and blue bubbles that spell SAK, please call the Orlando Police or SAK at 648-0001.
