What was the best or most memorable situation you have had here?
There have been too many. I would say Drew Garabo's night out was fun. (Matt immediately agrees).
What was the worst situation you have had here?
I've been beaten up! Several times. (Will laughs).
Matt - "Yeah, I think we all have had a swing thrown at us!"
What are your plans for the Pub in its third year?
Well, we're thinking about opening a place downtown, believe it or not!
Really?!
Yeah, or some place that needs this kinda' scene...young, laid back, fun, comfortable.
Matt - "Like Gainesville!" (Matt who has known Will for over two years and has worked at Will's since day one is moving to go back to school in Gainesville).
Anything else?
We're planning on putting out a CD with all the local bands that play here at Will's frequently.
You always have had a mix of people here.
Yeah, it's best that way.
You have advertised a lot on the radio and in Watermark (an Orlando gay and lesbian publication), Bitch Rag and other alternative venues since the beginning.
Well, we want it to be everyone's place. And if you come here and don't like what you see or hear, then LEAVE!
So what do think has changed in the past two years?
You should know man; you've been here for both of them! You know, we almost know what we're doing now! I remember when I couldn't pour a glass of wine. Now I know how and what to drink as well. (laughs) We're doing more experimenting with things like DJ's and that sort of thing as well; you don't know if it will work unless you try it.
Yeah, I was here the one and only Karaoke night.
Matt - "Yeah I was pissed I missed that. It was over before I even got into work!"
What other bars do you admire?
I love the Sapphire Supper Club and the Copper Rocket.
So how do you all get along around here?
Real well. There is like almost always someone here from work on their day off. We like hanging out here. It's a young atmosphere. There is not one employee over the age 25 including myself! We're always giving each other a hard time.
Matt - "Like the time on St. Patrick's Day when we both lost bets, and we had to wear tights and die our hair green!"
Or when you had to escort all gay and lesbian customers down to the Cactus for last call! Or the time we had a pool tournament, and I got the best stick in the pub to play with, and I put it in your car only for you to get laid in the back seat bend it all to shit! (everybody laughs).
So what plans do you have for the two-year
anniversary?
All kinds of bands for the week of the 16th through 21st of September. Kow, Blue Meridian, the Nifties, Gargamel, all kinds of insane drink specials and whatever else we can think of at the time.
Is there anything else you wanted to say?
Yeah, I really wanted to thank all the people that made the Pub what it is. Thanks for supporting us.
