The whole idea for a Beatles tribute night actually was started by Matt Brown (drummer for Wellville). One day at practice he said, almost jokingly, "we should get everyone together one night at the Sapphire and jam on Beatles tunes." Wellville vocalist Liz Larizza's eyes lit up (she LOVES the beatles), and she immediately jumped on the phone and called Mike McRaney from the Sapphire (who LOVES the beatles), who quickly jumped on the idea. I organized the event and coordinated it with all five bands - Wellville, Blue Meridian, 333, Gumwrapper Curb, and My Friend Steve - and got Liz to agree to host the whole thing. All the bands are really exited to do it, and we, unfortunately, have had to turn away a bunch of good acts because of the time issue.

The purpose of this event is really just to have fun, I guess, and to play with the other guys, promote the Orlando music scene, etc...

The night will consist of some sort of interesting opening act (still working that one out), half hour sets by each of the five bands (kind of like the acoustic showcase), and the grand finale, which will include members of each of the bands playing together in a big encore. Which songs? You gotta come to find out!

The whole night should be really cool. Everyone we talk to loves the idea ... well, actually, everyone we talk to loves the Beatles. I called Full Sail to see if they would video tape the whole thing for us. When I got the secretary on the phone and described what we were doing and what I wanted, she freaked out and wanted to know where it was happening, what day, time etc. So if there is one thing I learned from all this ... Orlando loves those Beatles!

Oh yea, the whole thing is being billed as "a hard day's night" - pretty cool, huh? Come see Orlando's finest playing their favorite beatles tunes.

Monday, Oct 13th - festivities begin around 10 p.m. - all ages - $3 at the door - drink specials - hosted by Liz Larizza
