On September 26, the Central Florida Film & Video Festival turns 15 years old. I guess you could say that we, like Mary Jane, are "not a virgin anymore." Who better to lead us into our coming-of-age than Russ Meyer, the King of Nudies himself. This legend's presence is sure to leave footprints, since just the mention of his film Beyond the Valley of the Dolls immediately brought censorship from Orlando's favorite happy corporation. This proves that the Central Florida Film & Video Festival is more than just entertainment, more than just a premiere happening - it is bringing our community together.

We received 697 entries this year and were extremely aroused by the tremendous talent and perseverance of independent filmmakers around the world. Once again, it was tough to choose only 130. Even with Russ Meyer and our fave film goddess Modi framing the festival, the real stars are the films themselves. Beautifully made, thoughtful, hilarious, and touching, our wide variety of entries illuminates the spectrum of today's independent artists. Whether it is battling stifling censorship or joining together the local arts community, we continue to bring the best of independent film to Central Florida, via your favorite grassroots non-profit organization.

So let's blow the candles, pierce a nipple, pop the champagne, and lay the carpet for our incoming filmmakers; it's time to celebrate film, art, Orlando, and one damn good time.
